APRACA Secretary General was invited to speak on Recent Development of Agricultural Financing at World Consumer Credit Reporting & Retail Banking Crediting Conference 2015 held at Shangri La, Bangkok on 2 – 30 January 2015. The conference brought together Experts, Practitioners from various agencies such as Financial Institutions, Credit Reporting Institutions, Universities, Industry Players in many countries in Asia.  The conference aimed at learning and sharing of credit risk management, promoting sound credit in financial system.

IFAD’s visit to APRACA, BAAC and Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Thailand 1-2 March 2015 

APRACA welcomed IFAD’s delegates led Ms. Hoonae Kim, Director for Asia and Pacific, and Dr. Sana Jatta, Portfolio Advisor (now Director for Africa) during their supervision mission on APRACA-IFAD Granted Projects. The mission was satisfied with the overall implementation and management of the projects. Thanks to Dr. Prasun Das and Mr. Marlowe Aquino, Project Managers for their strong commitment and efforts in managing the projects which are significantly beneficial to vast majority of APRACA members.

APRACA facilitated IFAD to visit and discuss with Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) and Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives on further cooperation with both organizations in the field of rural finance. IFAD is seeking close cooperation with Thailand regardless to non-borrowing country. IFAD also showed its interest in cooperating with BAAC for sharing BAAC’s good/best lessoned and good practices in rural finance to those who wish to learn from BAAC’s experiences.

Dissemination workshop of IFAD Granted Project on Documenting Global Best Practices on Sustainable Models of Pro-Poor Rural Financial Services in Developing Countries (RuFBeP) 4-6 March 2015 Manila, Philippines

APRACA has successfully organized the dissemination workshop of IFAD Granted Project on Documenting Global Best Practices on Sustainable Models of Pro-Poor Rural Financial Services in Developing Countries on 4-6 March 2015 in Manila, Philippines. The event brought together66 participants including Ms. Hoonae Kim, Director for Asia and Pacific, IFAD, and senior officers of IFAD from Headquarters, Rome and Countries Directors and Officers in Asia-Pacific region, and participants from APRACA members institutions in 5 target countries i.e. China, India, Thailand, Indonesia, and Philippines as well as non-target countries such as Bangladesh, Cambodia, and Sri Lanka.

The workshop served as a platform where the interested institutions involved in the RuFBeP Project have identified the best practices from their own country/ from other countries for piloting. It also served as a regional forum where participants broadly learned and exchanged information on the best practices of rural finance being followed in those countries in order to apply of replicate in their respective institutions/countries.

The documented best practices will be published and disseminated regionally and globally.
